Six months on, but no new Ambulance Victoria board
It’s now six months since the Labor government forced the board of Ambulance Victoria to resign, but the government still hasn’t appointed a new board, or a new CEO.
To make matters worse, on 3AW’s Neil Mitchell program last week, the Minister for Health (who’s also the Minister for Ambulance Services) wouldn’t commit to appoint a new board earlier than the end of the year.
This is despite Labor when in opposition claiming that there was a crisis in Ambulance Victoria that needed urgent action.
As Neil Mitchell pointed out, the current administrator and acting CEO are temporary leadership unable to make long term decisions.
The board the new government forced to resign had been working hard to turn around the culture in Ambulance Victoria.
Simply giving the ambulance union bosses whatever they want in exchange for election support is only going to make those problems worse.
