New Chairperson for the Legal Services Board
Attorney-General Robert Clark today announced the appointment of Fiona Bennett as Chairperson of the Legal Services Board.
Ms Bennett has served as a member of the Board since 2008 and has held a range of senior positions over a 35-year career.
Ms Bennett has worked at a range of leading companies and also contributed extensively to the Government sector and not-for-profit organisations.
Ms Bennett is currently Deputy Chair of Alfred Health, a Trustee of the Southern Metropolitan Cemeteries Trust and a Director of several public companies. She is also a member of the audit and risk committees of a number of public sector and non-profit organisations.
During her professional career, Ms Bennett has held senior positions in organisations including the Coles Group, Australian Red Cross Blood Service and BHP Billiton.
Ms Bennett also has previously been a Director and Deputy President of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Australia and a Director of the Heide Museum of Modern Art.
“Ms Bennett brings to the position of Chairperson a wealth of corporate governance, regulatory and financial experience,” Mr Clark said.
“I congratulate Ms Bennett on her appointment and wish her every success in her new role.”
Ms Bennett’s appointment follows the resignation of previous Chairperson Colin Neave, following his appointment as the Commonwealth Ombudsman.
