New appointment to Board of Victoria Legal Aid
Attorney-General Robert Clark today announced the appointment of Mr David Thompson as a new Director of Victoria Legal Aid (VLA).
Mr Clark said Mr Thompson would bring many years of corporate and financial experience to his new role with VLA.
“Mr Thompson has worked for two decades at the National Australia Bank, including as the Chief Financial Officer for the NAB Business Bank,” Mr Clark said.
Graduating from RMIT with a Bachelor in Business (Accounting) in 1982, Mr Thompson also holds a Masters in Applied Finance from Macquarie University and graduate diplomas in computing, chartered secretarial practice and corporate administration.
Mr Thompson’s work within the finance sector spans more than 30 years, including senior roles both in Australia and the United States.
Mr Thompson is also a member of the Institute of Chartered Accounting’s Victorian Regional Council.
“Mr Thompson’s corporate and financial management experience will bring valuable skills and perspectives to the Board of VLA,” Mr Clark said.
Mr Thompson becomes one of five Board Members of VLA, of whom at least one Board Member is required to have experience in financial management.
Mr Thompson began his role with VLA this week.
