Rail union threatens shutdown to pressure Labor
Today’s newspapers report a growing risk that strikes will shut down Victoria’s rail system for the first time in many years.
The rail union are threatening two day total shutdowns and other disruption as part of their demands for 6% a year pay rises.
It’s clear the union is making these threats in order to get the Andrews government to pressure Metro to give in to the union’s demands.
In other words, commuters look set to suffer because the union believes Labor is in the unions’ pockets and will simply cave in to disruption and strike threats.
