Science and Food Technology Centre opens at Koonung Secondary College

Congratulations to all at Koonung Secondary College on the official opening of the school’s new Science and Food Technology Learning Centre last night.

The centre will provide state-of-the-art facilities for subjects where good facilities are vital for practical, hands-on learning.

The $1.2 million centre was funded way back in the 2014 State budget, and the school has had to overcome red tape and other delays to get the project approved and built at last.

It was a pleasure to join Principal, Peter Wright, School Council Vice-President, Ian Andrews, and school captains Shana Nastas and Athos Sirianos to celebrate the official opening.

The next task is to persuade the State government to reinstate the $8.8 million funding for a full school upgrade that was also committed in 2014 but was scrapped when the new government was elected.
