Interchange report shuffled to yet another committee
After having one inquiry into the future of the Box Hill interchange, the Andrews government has now set up another inquiry to repeat the work of their first inquiry.
Having an inquiry by a “Ministerial advisory group” was a pre-election promise the then Labor opposition made when they heard that I had got work and consultations underway between the previous Coalition government and the centre manager on upgrading the transport interchange.
It took the government almost a year to get their advisory group set up, and then the government tried to keep its slender report secret for months.
A well designed and user-friendly Box Hill interchange is vital for good public transport. As well, the future location of the interchange is pivotal to finding ways to reshape the layout of central Box Hill to make it a more welcoming and attractive place for people to go to.
The government should have released this report soon after it received it, and should have acted on the report, instead of shuffling the issue off to yet another committee.
