More costs from bungled prison smoking ban
The costs for taxpayers continue to grow from last year’s bungled introduction of smoking bans in Victorian prisons.
Prisons smoking bans have been introduced without a hitch in New Zealand, Northern Territory, New South Wales, Queensland and Tasmania.
Yet in Victoria, we get a riot that caused millions of dollars of damage and a huge shortage of prison capacity, and now these reports of ongoing trauma and WorkCover claims by prison guards.
If our State government can’t even manage a smoking ban in a prison, what can they manage?
