顺天应时加强警力，当机立断防止家庭暴力

家庭暴力皇家委员会上周公佈一项报告，其中针对防止家庭暴力、保护和协助受害者的建议事项多达 200 多条。

政府早在皇家委员会报告出来前就已承诺投入大笔资金支持皇家委员会，政府亦承诺将实施委员会所有的改革建议。

如今，委员会已调查完毕，政府正是该当机立断採取行动之时。欲完成委员会的建议势必需增加警力，否则即使议会通过所有相关法律也因没有足够警察执行而无用武之地。

如果我们想保障社区安全、防止家庭暴力及打击一切犯罪行为，我们都需要更多的警力，多管齐下的打击犯罪并制止暴力的发生才是解决之道。

Time for action on family violence

Last week the report of the Family Violence Royal Commission was released, with over 200 recommendations to help prevent family violence and protect and assist victims.

The government has committed a lot of money and support to the Royal Commission. Even before the Commission reported, the government promised to implement all of the Commission’s recommendations.

Now the Commission has completed its investigation, it is time for the government to take action.

High up on the list for action needs to be more police. All the laws passed by Parliament are of no use unless there are enough police to enforce those laws.

We need more police if Victoria Police are going to be able to protect the community against family violence crime and against all other crime as well.
