New appointments to the Magistrates’ Court
Attorney-General Robert Clark today announced the appointments of Barry Schultz and Mark Stratmann to the Magistrates’ Court of Victoria.
Mr Clark said both appointees brought extensive knowledge and experience to the court.
Mr Schultz served as a police officer from 1967 to 1991, rising through the ranks from police cadet to become a police prosecutor.
Mr Schultz joined the Victorian Bar in 1991. He has practised predominantly in criminal matters for both prosecution and defence, including extensive circuit briefings.
He has also served as a criminal law and advocacy instructor at the Leo Cussen Centre for Law.
Mr Stratmann is the principal of Stratmann & Co Lawyers, based in Hamilton and Casterton, and over the past 14 years as a solicitor has appeared in criminal, family and civil jurisdictions.
Prior to taking up law, Mr Stratmann worked as a consultant and administrator in the education and manufacturing sectors
Mr Stratmann is also a director of the Western District Health Service. He has previously been a director of West Victoria Division of General Practice and of Monivae College, as well as being actively involved in western district legal groups,” Mr Clark said.
“I congratulate Mr Schultz and Mr Stratmann on their appointments and wish them well as they continue their service to the Victorian community and the Victorian legal system,” Mr Clark said.
