New appointment to the County Court
Attorney-General Robert Clark today announced the appointment of Robert Dyer as a judge of the County Court.
Mr Clark said Mr Dyer, a specialist in accident and compensation law, brought with him extensive experience both as a barrister and as a mediator.
“Mr Dyer has more than 33 years’ experience in civil litigation, especially in relation to common law matters including workers’ compensation, transport accident and public liability matters,” Mr Clark said.
Mr Dyer studied law at Monash University before beginning his career in the Australian public service. He worked in private legal practice from 1978 and signed the Bar Roll in 1980.
He practised initially in criminal, civil and family law matters in the Magistrates’ Court, before specialising in workers’ and accident compensation cases and later broadening his practice to include industrial accident, transport accident and public liability matters.
Mr Dyer is a member of the Victorian Bar’s ADR Committee and a committee member of the Compensation Bar Association. He is also a nationally accredited mediator and an accredited advanced mediator with the Victorian Bar.
Mr Dyer also has a keen interest in motor sport, being a former President of the Historic Rally Association and currently serving as a Tribune hearing appeal cases involving the Confederation of Australian Motor Sport.
“I congratulate Mr Dyer on his appointment to the County Court and look forward to his further contribution to the Victorian justice system,” Mr Clark said.
