New appointments to the Magistrates’ Court

Attorney-General Robert Clark today announced the appointment of Timothy Walsh to the Magistrates’ Court of Victoria.

Mr Clark said Mr Walsh brought a wide range of experience to the bench.

“Mr Walsh is a barrister specialising in criminal law, occupational health and safety law and regulatory law,” Mr Clark said.

Mr Walsh undertook his university studies as a mature-age student, having previously worked in the building industry. He graduated from Monash University in 1996 with a Bachelor of Laws and a Bachelor of Economics.

He signed the Victorian Bar Roll in 1999, after completing his articles of clerkship and having worked for a further two years as a solicitor.

Mr Walsh has served as chair of the Victorian Turf Cricket Association Tribunal, a member of the Board of Management of the Moorabbin Saints Junior Football League and vice-chairman of the Board of Management of the South Metro Junior Football League.

“I congratulate Mr Walsh on his appointment and wish him all the best as he continues his service to the law,” Mr Clark said.

Mr Clark also announced the appointment of Alan Spillane and Ross Betts as Reserve Magistrates to assist with the weekend sittings of the Melbourne Magistrates Court.
