Attorney-General Robert Clark today announced the appointment of James Elliott SC to the Supreme Court of Victoria.
Mr Elliott brings over 25 years of legal experience to the bench, with a particular focus on commercial law.
Mr Elliott was admitted to practice in 1988 and later served as an associate to High Court Justice Sir Gerard Brennan.
After joining the Victorian bar in 1990, Mr Elliott was appointed a Senior Counsel in 2004. In recent years, Mr Elliott has appeared in a range of high-profile commercial and insolvency matters.
Mr Elliott has practiced primarily in commercial, corporations, equity, insurance, insolvency and intellectual property law.
“Mr Elliot is a highly regarded barrister and his extensive experience conducting trials in the Supreme and Federal Courts makes him a valuable addition to the bench,” Mr Clark said.
“I congratulate Mr Elliott on his appointment to the Supreme Court, and wish him every success in his future contribution to the state’s judicial system.”
