Cesar Melhem醜聞- 司法改革為當務之急

近日律师们集体建议政府对维州工党议员 Cesar Melhem 提出刑事犯罪指控，指控内容为他在任职工会官员期间可能涉及不当的金钱交易。

据报导指出 Cesar 连同其他工会官员在劳工不知情的情况下收取企业所提供的不当费用，而工会官员由于代表企业劳工和企业谈判而引发违法质疑。

报导中也提到有许多工会代表劳工和企业谈判的案子都出现谈判后工会接受比原本劳工应得条件更低的待遇结果。

报导更指出自从 Melhem 当选进入维州议会开始， 他即使用公家费用聘用另一名涉案的工会官员为其助理， 此举进一步引发各界质疑。

此一事件除了体现出工会可能潜藏的腐败问题外，更重要的是引发人民对司法改革的省思。 推动司法改革方能控管工会官员涉及利益冲突并从中牟利的事件可不再发生。也唯有如此，工会才能真正无私的站在劳工的立场为劳工争取权益与福利。

Cesar Melhem scandal shows need for law reform

Recently, lawyers recommended that Victorian Labor MP, Cesar Melhem, be charged with criminal offences over payments he accepted when he was a union official.

It is claimed that he and other union officials took payments for the union without workers’ knowledge from companies with which the union was supposed to be negotiating on behalf of workers.

It is claimed that in several cases the union agreed to the workers receiving lower wages than they should have received from the companies involved. 

It has also been revealed that since Mr Melhem entered the Victorian Parliament, he has employed another accused union official as an electorate officer t public expense.

 All of this shows that the law needs to be reformed so that union officials cannot have these conflicts of interest and must act in the best interest of workers.
