孔曰成仁，孟曰取義 – 昨日的犧牲 ;今日的太平

上周澳大利亚时间11 月 11 日上午的 11 点，澳洲举行默哀仪式。 此举为了纪念那些为澳洲在战场上捨身取义牺牲的烈士们。

澳大利亚和英国以及许多国家一样，都是在 11月11日的上午 11点举行默哀。 因为也正是在1918 年的那一天裡我们的世界为第一次世界大战画下一个休止符。

红色的虞美人花正是这哀伤回忆的象徵，因为当年一战时在法兰德有许多士兵战死并埋于该处，这片战场上也因士兵的尸体而遍地红花。

上周末法国巴黎的恐怖攻击证明了澳大利亚以及世界上的文明国家仍然危机四伏，也因此我们更应记住并缅怀那些从野蛮主义手中保护我们的伟大英雄们。

Australia remembers those who died in war

Last week, Australians paused at 11am on 11^th November, to remember Australian service men and service women who have died in military conflict on behalf of our nation.

Australia, like Britain and many other countries, pauses at that time because it was at 11am on 11^th November 1918 that the armistice commenced that marked the end of fighting in World War 1.

The red poppy is the symbol of this remembrance, because red poppies grew in the fields of Flanders where so many soldiers of World War I died and were buried.

The terrible events in Paris over the weekend show that Australia and the rest of the civilized world still have enemies, so we also remember those Australians who are serving today in our army, navy or air force to help defend us from barbarism.
