Whitehorse Schools ANZAC service remembers past sacrifices
Congratulations to the many schools across Whitehorse who took part in today’s Schools ANZAC Service at the Cenotaph in Box Hill Gardens.
A powerful address by youthful veteran, Squadron Leader Adam Lawson, told the stories of a young nurse and young soldier in WW1, not much older than school age themselves, and of the memories of his own close friends who lost their lives serving their country.
The address and the ceremony helped a new generation to learn and understand more about the heroism of which people just like them are capable, and of the reality of the sacrifices made by many Australians in previous generations to give us the freedom we enjoy today.
Well done to the Box Hill RSL for organising today’s ceremony, and to Blackburn High School, Blackburn Primary School, Box Hill High School,Box Hill Senior Secondary College, Kerrimuir Primary School, Kingswood College Box Hill, Laburnum Primary School, Mitcham Primary School 2904, Orchard Grove Primary, Our Holy Redeemer Primary, Our Lady of Sion College, Our Lady’s Primary School, Roberts McCubbin Primary School, St Francis Xavier Primary School, St Lukes The Evangelist Primary School, St Phillips Primary School and Surrey Hills Primary School on taking part.
