No business case, but Labor still plans longer CityLink tolls
Today’s Age reports that Daniel Andrews is continuing to work on a plan to impose tolls on CityLink motorists for an extra 15 years in order to pay for a tunnel to link the West Gate Freeway to CityLink.
Premier Andrews is also refusing to release a business case for this Western Distributor proposal – or even commit to releasing a business case.
This shows yet again the sham and hypocrisy of Labor’s attacks on East West Link.
Since being elected, Premier Andrews has cost Victorians more than $640 million for nothing to scrap East West Link, is looking to slug CityLink motorists for 15 more years of tolls, and has condemned motorists across Melbourne to be stuck in ever growing congestion for years to come.
If it hadn’t been for Labor, construction of East West Link would now be well underway. Worth remembering.
For The Age’s report, see ‘Gross hypocrisy’: Labor won’t release toll road details until deal all but done.
