Here comes another borrow and splurge spree

Here we go again! Yet another Labor government setting out on a borrow and splurge spree.

Today’s Herald Sun reports that the government is looking to dramatically increase its borrowings – Labor could borrow $17b to build.

Our State Labor government can’t even afford to pay for what they’ve already promised, yet they now want to go out to borrow and spend even more.

Before the election, Labor told Victorians all their promises were fully costed, fully funded and would be paid for without increases in taxes or debt.

Victorian families struggling with their own household bills now face higher taxes and higher debt to be wasted on bungled projects, just like myki and the desalination plant under the previous Labor government, not to mention the $1.1 billion Premier Andrews threw away to NOT build East West Link.

There can be times when it can be sensible to borrow to pay for productive assets, but it has to be done with responsibility and restraint, and Labor governments have never shown either.
