“Double-up” Easter Sunday holiday will mean less work and fewer jobs
Daniel Andrews’ unfair decision to double-up on Easter public holidays will simply add to costs and force many businesses to stay shut, meaning less work and fewer jobs.
With Easter Monday already a public holiday, businesses will now be required to pay holiday rates twice over. Employees already receive weekend rates for working on Easter Sunday, as well as public holiday rates if they work on Easter Monday.
Daniel Andrews promised he would create 100,000 jobs, but this unfair and unaffordable public-holiday double-up is yet another decision that will cost jobs, not create them.
