CFMEU backs rail strikes during AFL finals

Just what we need! First we’re hit with the first tram and train strikes in decades. Now we find John Setka and the CFMEU are right behind these strikes and threatening more.

Victoria can’t afford to have extremist union bosses causing havoc with our train and tram system, as they have with our building industry.

Rail union leaders are refusing to accept a 17 per cent pay rise over four years. They are also trying to block reforms to boost the reliability and performance of our train network, in order to preserve antiquated work practices long gone in other parts of the world.

Victorian commuters need their state government to be standing up strongly for rail users, instead of owing favours to the militant union officials who helped get them elected.
