Double-storey relocatable buildings for Box Hill High School

Box Hill High School will have more room to meet growing enrolments next year thanks to two new double-storey relocatable buildings, Member for Box Hill Robert Clark MP announced today.

Four schools will share in the $4.8 million funding for five relocatable buildings as part of round two of the Victorian Coalition Government’s Relocatable Classroom Renewable Program.

Mr Clark said the relocatable buildings, each containing four classrooms, will allow Box Hill High School to make the most of its grounds and meet growing enrolments.

“Enrolments at Box Hill High School have increased significantly over the past three years,” Mr Clark said.

“With the additional eight classrooms the two extra relocatable buildings will provide, the school will be able to accept more student enrolments for the 2015 school year.

“I am delighted that the school’s strong case for these relocatable buildings has been able to be met thanks to the Government’s relocatable buildings program.”

The relocatable buildings have been designed with the following features:

  • improved floor, wall and roof thermal insulation;
  • double glazed windows to reduce heat loss;
  • building management and passive ventilation system;
  • energy efficient design to reduce energy usage;
  • external window shades; and
  • mobile storage units to allow various teaching layouts.

Minister for Education Martin Dixon said the funding had been announced in the 2013-14 State Budget.

“The relocatable buildings will assist the schools to provide students with a great educational environment,” Mr Dixon said.

“These state-of-the-art buildings are a fantastic way to ensure schools in Melbourne’s inner and middle-ring suburbs maintain as much open space for students to play as possible.

“High-quality infrastructure is an important step to creating a world-leading school system within 10 years and supporting all Victorians in their learning.”

The relocatable buildings will be delivered to schools in the second half of 2014.
