New County Court judge appointed
Attorney-General Robert Clark today announced the appointment of Paul Cosgrave SC to the County Court of Victoria.
Mr Cosgrave brings over 30 years experience to the bench.
Mr Cosgrave was admitted to practice in 1981 and signed the Bar Roll in 1983. He was appointed a Senior Counsel in 2005.
During his time at the Bar, Mr Cosgrave has worked almost exclusively in commercial litigation, including contractual and trade practices disputes, corporate insolvency, professional negligence, directors’ duties, superannuation issues and building and construction disputes.
Mr Cosgrave has also served as Assistant Secretary to the Bar, and as a member of the Bar’s Pro Bono Assistance Scheme. He was also a director of the trustee of the Victorian Bar Superannuation Fund and has been the Chairman of the Superannuation Section of the Commercial Bar Association since 2005.
“Mr Cosgrave’s extensive commercial law experience over many years makes him ideally suited to make a valuable contribution to the important commercial law work of the County Court,” Mr Clark said.
“I congratulate Mr Cosgrave on his appointment and wish him every success in his future service to the community as a judge of the County Court.”
