New appointment to the County Court
Attorney-General Robert Clark today announced the appointment of Gavan Meredith to the County Court of Victoria.
“Mr Meredith is a highly regarded barrister who brings many years of experience to the role,” Mr Clark said.
Mr Meredith graduated from the University of Melbourne with a Bachelor of Laws in 1985 and was admitted to practice later that year.
He was a solicitor with the Legal Aid Commission and in private practice prior to joining the Victorian Bar in 1995.
Mr Meredith has appeared regularly in the Supreme Court and County Court.
His practice has included acting for both the prosecution and defence, and has also included numerous appearances in the Court of Appeal.
Mr Meredith has also been active on the Continuing Professional Development Committee of the Victorian Bar.
“I congratulate Mr Meredith on his appointment to the County Court and I wish him every success in his future contributions to Victoria’s legal system,” Mr Clark said.
