自由党成功阻挡“选择自己性别”法案

维州议会在上周风起云涌，自由党和国家党议员成功联手挡下 Andrews 政府试图通过的 “选择自己性别” 法案，法案一旦通过，人们便可自由在出生证明上选择他们的性别。

此举将允许男性自行修改纪录成为 “女性”，这会对体育竞技比赛、男校或女校招生、男女更衣间使用、女子监狱管理到家庭暴力难民处理上产生连带性的严重影响。

时至今日，大多数人认为出生证明上的性别，在未有任何客观的医疗或其它证据前提下，皆应根据人体生物特徵而定， 而州长却希望将法律修改成允许个人主观自由选择自己的性别。

虽然这项试图闯关的法案被成功阻挡了，但 Andrews 政府仍继续进行有关的激进社会议题改革，如维州学校强制实施的 “安全学校” 计画就是典型范例。

Liberals defeat “choose your own gender” law

Last week in State Parliament, Liberal and Nationals MPs defeated an attempt by the Andrews government to change the law so people can show their gender as anything they choose on their birth certificate.

Allowing males to change their recorded sex to “female” risked serious consequences for sporting competitions, single sex schools, changing facilities, women’s prisons and family violence refuges.

Most people would think the gender listed on a birth certificate should be based on a person’s biology, unless there is objective medical or other evidence to do otherwise. However, the Premier Andrews wanted the law to allow a person to describe themselves as being of whatever gender they choose.

While this law has been defeated, the Andrews government is continuing with its radical social agenda such as the “Safe Schools” program, which it is requiring children to be taught in our schools.
