新癌症医院将开幕，但却会有一个空置的楼层

维州斥资 10 亿澳币的癌症中心将正式开幕，而令人注目的是，在这癌症中心有一个完全空置的楼层。这皆因工党政府决定取消原定设在那边的 42张癌症病床，最终导致中心开幕却空置楼层的奇景。

故事起因于 Peter Mac 原计画在中心的13th 楼打造一个世界级的癌症治疗与研究楼层， 在经历多年多位医生、研究机构、董事会和许多贊助捐款人的齐心协力下，这个全新世界级的癌症治疗和研究中心计画彷彿见到一线曙光并充满希望。

然则在 Andrews 政府当选执政后，便随即下令医院取消整个计画，因政府立场是反对这类私立的癌症治疗医院。

这样的结果对于多年努力的医生、研究机构和许多捐款贊助人而言是可悲的，对于政府而言却是非常的可耻。 其结果直接影响到数以千计的病患错过新中心可以提供的疗程，而这一切仅因政府的介入与反对。 如此结果是那样的令人惋惜，之后政府当以此为戒。

New cancer hospital will open with empty floor

Victoria’s new $1 billion cancer centre will open with a completely vacant floor this year because of the Labor government’s decision to cancel the 42 new cancer beds that were going to be built there.

The Peter Mac was going to build a world-class new cancer treatment ward on the 13^th floor of the new cancer centre, following years of hard work by doctors, research institutions, board members and donors to plan the new centre.

However, when the Andrews government was elected, it ordered the hospital to cancel the plans because it opposed having a privately run cancer ward.

It is disgraceful that thousands of patients will miss out on treatment in the new centre because of the government’s decision
