自由党将推动一年级学生阅读检测

维州自由党领袖 Matthew Guy 今天宣佈，如自由党政府今年顺利当选，将推动一年级学生的阅读检测，用以确保他们阅读的基础达到良好的发展。

根基打得稳，楼才盖的高，学习亦如是。 然则，不幸的是，当前有太多小学生在校时，无法及时发现和修復他们阅读的问题，这也成为学童日后在学习领域进步的绊脚石。

推动一年级生的简易阅读检测 (Phonics)，找出问题并及时更正方是当务之急。（Phonics 是让学生看到一组英文单词，就找出该单词该如何发音的能力）

儘管数以十亿计的预算投资在教育领域，但维州学校的学童水平并未因此而有所改善，甚至还有下滑的趋势。我们需要确保所有学生都具备阅读、写作和数学等重要基础知识，也唯有如此，维州学童才能更具备国际竞争力。

Liberals to introduce reading check for all Year 1 students

Victorian Liberal leader, Matthew Guy, has announced that if a Liberal government is elected this year, it will introduce a check for all Year 1 students to make sure their reading skill are developing properly.

Unfortunately, at present too many students go through school without problems in reading being detected and fixed.  When this happens, it holds back the student’s learning and progress in many areas of schooling.

A short test of a student’s phonics in Year 1 will identify any problems so they action can be taken to correct those problems quickly.  (Phonics is the ability of a student to look at the letters that make up a word in English and work out how to pronounce it.)

Despite billions of dollars of extra funds being spent on education, standards in Victorian schools have not improved or have even gone backwards.  We need to make sure all students have a good knowledge of vital skills such as reading, writing and mathematics.
