自由党反对维州增税和开徵新税

自由党反对 Andrews 政府试图增税和开徵新税的提案，并且将在议会否决有关提案。

这些新税或增税包括近城区和近郊房屋将徵收等同 1% 物业值的空置房屋税、土地税评估缩减为每年一次、 投资预售屋的新印花税及购置新车应缴的印花税。

新空屋税其实是非常不公平的，因州政府试图将房屋上涨的罪责怪罪到海外人士身上，但事实却是房价增长的主要因素来自于市场上最基本的供需问题。　

目前新建房屋量不足以弥补人口增长的需求，也因此推动房价上扬。

州政府不应增税与开徵新税，而应更有效更明智的控制开销，例如不该浪费 12 亿澳币来废除重大的东西环线 (East West Link) 项目。

Liberals oppose new and increased state taxes

The Liberal Party is opposing the new and increased taxes that the Andrews government is trying to introduce, and will try to have them rejected by the Parliament.

These include a new tax each year of 1% of the value of vacant residential properties in inner and middle suburbs, annual revaluations for land tax, a new stamp duty on off-the-plan purchases of investment properties, and increased stamp duty on buying a new vehicle.

The new vacant properties tax is particularly unfair, because the state government is trying to blame non-Australians for increasing property prices, when the main reason for price increases is that the supply of new housing is not keeping up with population growth.

The State government should not be imposing these new and increased taxes.  It should be spending public money more wisely, instead of waste such as spending $1.2 billion to scrap the East West Link project.
