拆除平交道 – 政府必須聽取專家的意見

任何關於平交道拆除的決定都應取決於專家意見而不是政治因素。 前維州自由黨政府讓第三方獨立機構VicRoads 進行過一項有關平 “交道優先拆除順序” 的評估，但如今工黨政府卻完全忽略這第三方專業的評估調查。

Level crossing removals – government must listen to experts

Decisions about level crossing removals should be based on expert advice, not on politics.

The previous Victorian Liberal government got VicRoads to carry out a study last year to assess which level crossings should be removed next, but the current Labor government has ignored it.

As a result, motorists across Melbourne will be left unfairly stuck in traffic, and exposed to safety risks, for many years to come.

For example, the level crossing in Union Road, Surrey Hills was ranked a high priority by last year’s VicRoads study, and was also ranked as the 14th highest removal priority in a 2008 expert study based on risk, yet the government is refusing to consider it for removal.

We need the government to commit to a fair and impartial program to decide which level crossings should be the highest priority to be removed next.
