Action needed to fix Box Hill Transport Interchange
The escalator to the bus terminus at the Box Hill transport interchange has been broken for more than a week, and there’s no sign of any action to fix it.
Commuters are having to trudge up the stairs or try to cram into the undersized lift.
I’ve raised the issue in Parliament with the Public Transport Minister last week, but so far appeals for action have fallen on deaf ears.
Unfortunately, when the Andrews government came to office, they scrapped the work and consultations that were underway with the centre manager on upgrading the transport interchange.
Instead, the government set up a “Ministerial advisory group”, but that group’s report has gone nowhere, despite the government’s move to push more and more high-rise and high density into Box Hill and other nearby suburbs.
