Victorians face high price for Labor’s union support
Victorians face paying a high price for the promises Daniel Andrews made to the firefighters union before the last election, as today’s Herald Sun reports.
Union leaders were told they’d be looked after well if they campaigned for Labor, and those leaders are continuing to demand a massive payoff.
Daniel Andrews has already given big pay rises to the paramedics union and the rail union, and the firefighters union want even more – not only big pay rises, but huge control over and restrictions on volunteer firefighters.
Workers are entitled to fair and reasonable pay increases for the work they do, but workers’ pay rises shouldn’t depend on how much support their union gave to Labor at the election.
Daniel Andrews should never have exposed Victorians to these sorts of demands and threats in the first place.
