More CityLink tolls to pay for Western Distributor

The Andrews government announced last week it will proceed with plans to charge motorists who use CityLink at least 10 more years of tolls to help pay for the $5.5 billion “Western Distributor” road between the Westgate Freeway and Footscray Road.

At the same time, Mr Andrews is refusing to accept $500 million from the Commonwealth government to increase the number of new lanes to be built on Monash Freeway.

This means that CityLink motorists from the east, south-east and north of Melbourne will be charged tolls to pay for a road they will seldom use and will get little benefit from.

Yet motorists across Melbourne will remain stuck in traffic because Daniel Andrews has paid $1.1 billion to cancel the building of East-West Link.
