议会通过 “不交代受害者尸体，就严禁假释” 的法案

自由党和国家党议员们联手成功迫使 Andrews 政府推动一项新法案成功，该法案使得凶手如不愿透露受害者尸体位置，则严禁假释。

当受害者不幸被凶手谋害，在尸体无法找到的情况下，那会徒增受害者家属心中的悲痛。

有鑑于此，当凶手被收押定罪后，却又拒绝透露受害者尸体位置时，这无疑代表凶手并未真正悔过，也自然不应得到减刑的待遇。

今年初当自由党和国家党议员试图在议会推动这项法案时 (详情参照 3月1日的文章) ，工党政府投票反对。 有幸.，在诸方压力下，现今政府终改变主意，也制定法案，该案已于上周在维州议会顺利通过。

虽是迟来的正义，但终究可稍稍安抚受害者心中那难以抹灭的痛苦。

Parliament passes “no body, no parole” reform

Liberal and Nationals MPs have been successful in forcing the Andrews government to pass a new law so that a murderer cannot obtain parole and be released from jail early if their victim’s body can’t be found and the murderer won’t reveal what they know about where the body is.

Where a killer murders a victim and the body can’t be found, that causes even more grief for the victim’s family and friends.

If a murderer has been convicted and is in jail, and still won’t disclose where they’ve hidden the body, it shows they don’t have any true remorse, they haven’t been rehabilitated and they don’t deserve any reduction in their time in jail.

When Liberal and Nationals MPs proposed these new laws in Parliament earlier this year, the Labor government voted to defeat them. However, now the government has brought in its own laws to make the same change, and those laws were passed by Parliament last week.
