拥堵的当头棒喝，改善交通宜趁早

上周报告指出，维州在过去五年中，汽车、卡车等车辆增加了大约 50 多万辆。

这一数字有如对政府的当头棒喝，毫无疑问，过去这些年所增加的车辆，都使我们的交通每况愈下，道路的拥堵不但日加频繁，通勤的耗时也越加冗长。

即使到了周末，少了上下班的通勤车流，交通状况也并未好转多少，周末的近郊路况也一样不容乐观，许多驾驶对日渐恶化的交通更是有深刻体会。

 

这已发生的事实，全民共同面对的难题，不但显示 East West Link 东西环线道路计划非但不应被 Andrews 政府取消，而且早就该兴建来改善交通。

5年50万辆的增长数据更提醒我们，交通规划需有前瞻性，我们急需一个完整且可行的规划，用以舒缓交通拥堵、改善大众运输，更以之为我们人口增长，交通恶化的良方。

Congestion shows we need better transport

 

It was reported last week that the number of cars and other vehicles in Victoria has risen by more than 500,000 in the past five years.

 

With all these extra vehicles, it’s no wonder that our roads are becoming more congested every day, and delays are becoming longer and occurring more often.

 

Even on weekends, it’s now common to be stuck in a traffic bottleneck simply driving around our suburbs.

 

This shows why the East West Link should have been built, instead of being cancelled by Premier Andrews. 

 

It also shows why we need a proper plan to ensure Victoria will have the roads and public transport needed for our rapidly growing population.
