维州政府推动 “选择自己性别” 法案

Andrews 州政府尝试推动新法案，该法允许民众在 “出生证明” 文件上可忽略医学和生物证据，自由的填写性别。

然则时至今日，政府仍然无法对新法一旦通过，在运动竞技比赛、男校或女校经营、更衣间使用、女子监狱到家暴难民的处理上带来什麽影响。

大多数人认为，出生证明上的性别除非有客观的医疗或其他证据，否则皆根据人的生物特徵而定。 然则根据新法律，人们可根据自己喜好来改变登记的性别，出生证明上将有更多更广泛的描述和选择，而家长亦可替孩子选择来为该孩子的性别作出改变。

如此修正法案过于草率，在未能全盘评估考量下，对于执政管理更如同儿戏。 我和我同事，自由党国家联盟的议员们都反对该项修正案。

Government pushes “choose your own gender” law

The Andrews government is trying to push a new law through Parliament to allow people to list their sex as anything they choose on their birth certificate, regardless of their biology or medical evidence.

The government has been unable to say what effect the new law will have on sporting competitions, single sex schools, changing facilities, women’s prisons or family violence refuges.

Most people would think the sex listed on a birth certificate should be based on a person’s biology, unless there is objective medical or other evidence to do otherwise. However, under the new law, a person can have their sex changed on their birth certificate to a wide range of different descriptions simply by declaring what sex they want listed. Parents can also have their children’s sex changed.

I and my fellow Liberal and National MPs are opposing this proposed law.
