New $2 tax on every taxi and Uber trip

The Andrews Government last week brought legislation to the State Parliament to impose a new $2 tax on all taxi and Uber trips in Victoria.

Before he was elected, Premier Daniel Andrews promised he would not introduce any new taxes. He has now broken that promise.

The tax will especially hurt the elderly and other passengers who need to take taxis or ride sharing frequently, such as to medical appointments or to local shops.

The Liberal Nationals Coalition will try to stop this new tax. Uber should be allowed in Victoria without Victorians being forced to pay this new tax.
