Putting police in shopping centres
Victorian Liberal leader, Matthew Guy, has promised that if Liberal Nationals government is elected, it will establish police shopfronts in major shopping and entertainment centres in Melbourne and Geelong.
This will enable police to be closer to places where there are large numbers of people, to protect against crime and to be on the spot when crime occurs.
Having police based in shopping centres will also enable police to patrol through shopping centres, and look out for suspicious activity, including possible terrorism threats.
This is part of the Liberal Nationals’ commitment to have more police in the community and stronger jail sentences, to prevent and deter crime and make Victoria safe again.
