战争纪念日，纪念死去的英灵

上周五，11月11 日除了是中国光棍节外，对于澳洲而言，它更是战争纪念日。 为了我们国家在战争中牺牲的英雄与英雌们，澳州人在当天为他们默哀已示追忆。

纪念日的象徵是红色的罂粟花，因为罂粟花生长于佛兰德斯地区，一个位于欧洲西北的区域，在那有许多第一次世界大战阵亡的士兵长眠于该处。

于 Box Hill 举办的纪念日当天，我和 Julia Banks ，澳州联邦议会 Chisholm 选区的代表一同参与纪念匾的揭幕，一个纪念缅怀在第一次世界大战中为澳大利亚服务的英雄纪念匾。

该匾是由 Box Hill 高中的学生，他们都有家人或亲友曾在第一次世界大战中牺牲。 除了纪念死去的英灵，更要提醒我们，勿忘过去的艰辛，珍惜现今的和平。

War dead honoured on Remembrance Day

Last Friday, 11^th November, was Remembrance Day, when Australians pause to remember Australian service men and service women who have died in military conflict on behalf of our nation.

The symbol of Remembrance Day is the red poppy, because red poppies grew in the fields of Flanders where so many soldiers of World War One died and were buried.

This Remembrance Day in Box Hill, I was privileged together with Julia Banks, the new MP for Chisholm in the Australian Parliament, to witness the unveiling of a plaque to honour all those who served Australia in World War One.

The plaque was unveiled by students from Box Hill High School with family members who served and died in World War One.
