东西环线为东北环线之本

Andrews 政府建议兴建的东北环线于上周面临更多的问题。

如果按照 Andrews 政府原订计画，兴建东北环线 (North East Link) 而不建东西环线 (East West Link)，将面临大量车潮涌入东部环线位于 Bulleen 路段和 Hoddle 街的区域，更加恶化该路段的交通，导致更拥堵的状况发生。

有鉴于此，我和我自由党同僚们皆认为，优先兴建东西环线 (East West Link) 可使东部高速 (Eastern Freeway) 的尾端与市区环线 (CityLink) 连接，对于舒缓拥堵实有其难以取代的重要性。

同时，据透露的资料显示，原拟订东北环线的路段由于会经过澳大利亚极为重要的军事营地，因此政府恐将面临更新制定路线，但也正因种种的不确定性，给数以百计的屋主与企业带来无穷无尽的困扰和压力。

East West Link needed before North East Link

More problems have emerged last week with the Andrews government’s proposal to build a North East Link.

If the North East Link is built without the East West Link, as Premier Andrews wants to do, there is likely to be huge increase in the number of cars travelling on the Eastern Freeway between Bulleen Road and Hoddle Street, causing even longer queues and delays.

I and my Liberal colleagues believe it is important to build the East West Link first, so that the end of the Eastern Freeway is connected through to CityLink.

As well, it has been revealed that the proposed route for the North East Link goes through an important Australian government army barracks, so the Andrews government may be forced to redesign its route. This uncertainty is causing distress for hundreds of affected home owners and businesses.
