Union bosses pulling Labor’s strings
There’s a striking insight in today’s Herald Sun on the network of power brokers and union bosses with influence within factions in the Labor Party.
Today’s piece exposes the factional power of union officials from the shop assistants union, but other union bosses wield similar power over Ministers in other factions.
Does any of this matter for ordinary Victorians who are stuck in traffic, worried about their job, or wanting good schools and hospitals for their families?
Unfortunately, it does. It shows why Labor governments, whether in Canberra or Victoria, can so easily become dysfunctional and turn on each other, instead of doing their job and governing for the community.
