Sports uniform grants for local clubs
Four sporting clubs in the Box Hill electorate will share in more than $300,000 in Victorian Coalition Government funding as part of the Sporting Uniform Grants Program, Member for Box Hill Robert Clark said today.
The Eley Park Football Club in Box Hill, Koonung Park Tennis Club in Blackburn and Blackburn North Bowling Club in Blackburn North will each receive a grant of $1000 and the Koonung Heights Cricket Club in Balwyn North $999, which will allow the clubs to rejuvenate their club colours.
Mr Clark said the four clubs are among 311 sporting clubs to receive the grant as part of the latest round of the popular program.
“The grants help remove a key cost barrier to participation in sport, as uniforms are essential for most sporting clubs,” Mr Clark said.
“This grant is not only a boost for the clubs, it also promotes increased participation by helping to get more Victorians more active, more often.”
Minister for Sport and Recreation Damian Drum said since 2011, over 2,000 clubs have benefitted from a share in more than $2 million from the Coalition Government’s Sporting Uniform Grants Program.
“Team uniforms are more than just colours; they represent local sporting traditions and community pride,” Mr Drum said.
“By removing an extra cost burden on sporting clubs these grants keep sport affordable for families and more accessible to all. That is why we are proud to deliver the Sporting Uniform Grants Program to create a more active Victoria.”
