$600,000 grant for new Box Hill centre for Greek Orthodox Community of Box Hill and Districts

The Greek Orthodox Community of Box Hill and Districts has been awarded a $600,000 grant from the Victorian Government’s Cultural Precincts and Community Infrastructure Fund for a new community centre in Box Hill.

The Greek Orthodox Community of Box Hill and Districts is one of ten organisations across Victoria to share in over $4 million in funding for new or upgraded facilities.

The grant will assist the Greek Orthodox Community of Box Hill and Districts to build a new community centre in Carrington Road, Box Hill. The centre will include spaces for social and cultural activities as well as language education. The new facility will also be available for use by other community groups and organisations.

State Member for Box Hill, Mr Robert Clark said, “I congratulate the Greek Orthodox Community of Box Hill and Districts on being awarded this grant. It it a tribute to the outstanding plans they have developed for this new community centre in Box Hill.

“With a central location close to the district centre, this new facility will be a wonderful asset for the wider Box Hill community and for the many community groups and organisations based in and around Box Hill.

“This grant highlights the Victorian Government’s commitment to supporting well-planned and well-designed facilities that will help provide a strong future for the wide range of community groups that make up Victoria’s multicultural society,” Mr Clark said.
