New appointment to the County Court

Attorney-General Robert Clark today announced the appointment of Claire Quin to the County Court of Victoria.
Mr Clark said Mrs Quin brought a wealth of experience to the bench.

“Mrs Quin is a barrister of 22 years’ experience, including 16 years at the Office of Public Prosecutions as a Crown Prosecutor and Associate Crown Prosecutor,” Mr Clark said.

Mrs Quin completed a Bachelor of Arts and Law with Honours at Monash University in 1988 and commenced her articles in 1989.

Mrs Quin was an Associate to the Honourable Justice Frank Vincent from 1990 to 1992, and also worked as a volunteer at the Western Suburbs Legal Service from 1990 to 1993.

Her legal practice at the bar included criminal law and child protection matters, including numerous appearances in the Court of Appeal as junior to the Director of Public Prosecutions and Chief Crown Prosecutor.

As a Crown Prosecutor, Mrs Quin has appeared extensively in the Court of Appeal and the High Court, and has also served for several years in the OPP’s Sexual Offences Unit.

In 2012 and 2013, Mrs Quin served as senior legal counsel to the Victorian Parliament’s Family and Community Development Committee inquiry that resulted in the landmark Betrayal of Trust report.

“I congratulate Mrs Quin on her appointment and wish her every success in her future career as she continues her service to the law in Victoria,” Mr Clark said.
