TAFE places cut despite Labor’s “rescue” promise

Before the last election, Labor claimed TAFE was in crisis and Labor would “rescue” it. Now we find out TAFE places are actually being cut, not increased, under the Labor government, as a report in today’s Age newspaper reveals

All the excuses don’t wash. The bottom line is that under Labor, TAFEs are being given more public money, but providing places for fewer students.

In contrast, under the Coalition, TAFE enrolments increased by 51%, and funding also increased, from $457 million to $600 million.

It just shows yet again the world of difference between talk and action.
