Box Hill sporting clubs to benefit from uniform grant
Seven Box Hill sporting clubs will have brand new uniforms as part of the Victorian Government’s Sporting Uniform Grants Program.
Member for Box Hill, Robert Clark MP said the Whitehorse Divers, Box Hill North Super Kings Cricket Club, Elgar Park Cricket Club, Kerrimuir United Cricket Club, Boroondara Eagles Football Club (soccer) and Canterbury Cobras Junior Football Club, will each receive $1000, and a grant of $986 will be given to the Box Hill Whitehorse Hockey Club.
“Sport is a community focus and a great opportunity for children and families to get together,” Mr Clark said.
“The uniforms worn by each team are more than just a set of colours – they represent team unity and community pride.
“This funding will help each club and its players, and I hope it will encourage others to join and support their local clubs.”
The clubs were among a total of 442 across Victoria to share in more than $425,000 worth of Sporting Uniform Grants Program funding of up to $1000 per club.
Minister for Sport and Recreation, Hugh Delahunty said the Sporting Uniform Grants Program aims to reduce financial barriers to participation by providing sporting clubs with an opportunity to purchase new uniforms, or a range of related items for club members including team tops, shorts, socks and footwear.
“These grants will assist sporting and recreation clubs to invest in new uniform clothing and footwear. This will attract and accommodate new members, helping to increase participation in sport as well as nurture talent,” Mr Delahunty said.
“New uniforms can go a long way towards boosting team morale and encouraging healthy and active communities, and that’s why we’re proud to continue to deliver this initiative,” he said.
