Community unites against dud Blackburn rail plans

It was a full house last night as the Blackburn community united to protest against the government’s botched plans for the Blackburn rail project.

Local residents, environmentalists, cyclists, people with disabilities, students, local traders and business groups joined in calling for a wider pedestrian underpass at Blackburn Station, a better bike path solution and disability access that complies with the government’s own requirements.

So far, Jacinta Allan (Minister for Public Transport), Luke Donnellan (Minister for Roads) and Shaun Leane (Parliamentary Secretary for Transport) have refused to meet with community representatives or fix these problems.

If you’d like to see a better outcome for this project, sign the petition at http://bit.ly/1Svwzm9 to tell the Andrews government to stop short-changing our community and do the job properly.
