Middleborough Road intersection to get much needed safety upgrade

Dee Ryall MP, Member for Mitcham District, together with the Hon Robert Clark MP, Member for Box Hill District, announced today that work has started on road safety improvements at the intersection of Middleborough Road, Katrina Street and Heathfield Rise on the border of Blackburn North and Box Hill North.

“The improvements will include changes to line-marking, signs and traffic signals, to improve safety and traffic flow through the intersection,” said Mr Clark.

“Several bus routes travel through this intersection and the upgrade will ease traffic congestion by giving priority to buses,” Ms Ryall stated.

“Easing congestion at this intersection, particularly during peak hours, will be of enormous benefit to all road users.”

During construction, speed restrictions will be in place to ensure the safety of workers and the general community and traffic delays of up to 5 minutes are to be expected. There will be some associated noise and the line-marking work may be carried out at night to minimize traffic disruption.

Works are expected to be completed by mid-December.
