Premier Andrews should be condemning the thuggery and bullying on the CUB picket line, not urging the unions to keep their picket going.
Backing this rogue union campaign against one of Victoria’s best known companies sends an appalling message to any business thinking of setting up in Victoria, or deciding whether they should remain. It tells business yet again that if unions decide to stand over them with threats and intimidation, the Victorian government will be on the unions’ side. This simply drives investment and jobs out of our state.
Mr Andrews should be telling the unions to end their lawlessness and take their case to Fair Work, where the umpire will decide in accordance with Labor’s own Fair Work laws.
