Box Hill医院医生伤重不治

上週有个让人难过不幸的消息，今年早前在 Box Hill 医院遭受袭击受伤的医生，上星期于医院伤重不治。

死者 Patrick Pritzwald-Stegmann 是一位备受尊敬，年轻有为的心脏外科医生，他于医院劝导访客勿在门口吸菸时遭遇袭击致重伤。
医院应是治癒疗伤之所，而非暴力致命之地，整起事件最大的悲哀莫过于一位善良人士在试图保护他人健康权益时竟遭受袭击重伤，如今更不幸因伤不治。

我们的社会安定不会因少数人的暴力为恶而毁灭，但它会毁于多数人的冷漠与视而不见。 这次悲剧再次提醒我们，为何我们需要更强而有力的法律来吓阻犯罪，为何我们需要推动改革来保护社会与人民免于暴力和犯罪的荼毒。

Tragic death of doctor at Box Hill Hospital

There was very sad news last week with the death of the Box Hill Hospital doctor who was attacked and punched at the hospital earlier this year.

Patrick Pritzwald-Stegmann was a highly regarded young heart surgeon.  He was punched and critically injured after asking a visitor to stop smoking near the hospital entrance.

Hospitals should be places of healing, not violence.  It is a tragedy that such a fine man has been struck down simply because he tried to protect others from harm.

This sad loss shows again why we need strong laws to deter crime and protect the community from violence.
